Judging from the little info they provided in the trailer, it seems the us built some space based weapons platform that fires spikes at targets (sort of like what was used in G. I. Joe Retaliation) and it was hijacked by an enemy nation and used against them.
Following this, they were invaded by an enemy nation from "below the Equator" and this all sets the stage for the single player campaign where you'll most likely play as one of 2 brothers who are the sons of a former US soldier, working as "ghosts" trying to take the fight back to the invaders along with your trusty K-9 sidekick.
I know most hardcore Call of Duty fans aren't interested in the single-player campaign but this one actually looks pretty like it'll have a pretty decent story to tell. My only prayer is that they make it long enough to enjoy, none of that 5 hour crap they've been doing for the past few years.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will launch on the 5th of November, 2013.
