Book Description:
In the heart of Italy, Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon is drawn into a harrowing world centered on one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces . . . Dante’s Inferno.
Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dante’s dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust . . . before the world is irrevocably altered.
My Review:
Not bad, not bad at all. Dan Brown uses almost the same formula he used his previous Robert Langdon books and it kinda catches your attention right from beginning and holds it right to the very end. Quite the thriller with all its plot twists and turns. The thing though is that if you've read a lot of Dan Brown's books, you know to expect plot twists and here while some of them were truly stunning, others where a bit odd. They almost felt forced if you ask me. And of course the abundance of references to history and symbology and all that stuff. If you're not a fan it can be a bit distracting but it does help the story progress. I also didn't really like the ending, it felt a bit rushed to me. No real conclusion per se, just some sort of assurance that the consequences of the events from the finale will be dealt with.
However, despite these 'short comings' it is a very good thriller, fast paced and tense. I wonder if they're still planning to make movies from these books, the first two weren't bad at all.
My Rating: 8.5/10
