Plot Summary: When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

My Review:
Not a bad movie at all! It starts of well and as the story builds up, you get to understand some of the motivations for the main characters. Acting was on point for the most part, Benedict Cumberbatch killed it as John Harrison. The action sequences were epic in scale and execution. In all, it was a well put-together package.

Having said that, I had a few problems with the story in Star Trek into Darkness. First one is this: The whole of Starfleet command seems really incompetent throughout the movie. One man versus the entire Starfleet Command and he almost wins!? How!? Secondly, Though there are threats of war with the Klingons, you never really get the impression that much is at stake, even when the humans go to a Klingon planet and shoot up a Klingon patrol there is no mention of repercussions. Thirdly, there are so many star actors here that I felt they compromised the story just so that they could all have enough lines to match their star ratings. You can't have Simon Pegg in a supporting role and allow him say only a few lines in one or two scenes now can you?

These might seem like minor gripes but to me they really took a lot away from the movie and left me feeling duped. Star Trek into Darkness isn't a terrible movie, it just isn't a really good one either.

My Rating: 6/10
